Job Title: Pre-K Teacher -
Company: Location: los angeles, CA Description: The Preschool Teacher is responsible for the management and supervision of children between the ages of 2-5. The incumbent must possess the physical ability to lead and interact in activities and games with children, monitor behavior requiring separation and participate in curriculum activities. Provides excellent customer service to students? parents and communicates with them on a routine and daily basis. Responsibilities: ? Assists in planning and preparation of the creative learning environment and preparation of needed materials and supplies using developmentally appropriate practice. ? Responsible for teaching in a safe, progressive manner to ensure safety at every stage of learning. ? Creates and teaches projects that use all of the developmental aspects of life. ? Supervises and leads the activity areas (all weather conditions) and actively engages in activities with children. ? Provides leadership and direction in a school setting while adhering to the YMCA?s Policy and Procedures at all times. ? Demonstrates an understanding of the developmental needs of pre-school age children and provides personal attention to children ? Observes the children, and documents in the children?s portfolios assessments regarding the children. ? Instills the YMCA?s four core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of teaching, working with parents and fellow staff. ? Conducts parent teacher conferences and keeps the parents informed regarding the child?s development. ? Immediately reports any and all unsafe conditions and/or work related injuries/illnesses to supervisor. ? Maintains accurate attendance records and reporting. ? Attendance at all staff meetings and trainings. ? Performs other duties, as assigned, to maintain efficiency throughout the organization. Qualifications: ? Basic CPR/First Aid certification. Infant/Child CPR and First Aid. ? At least 24 units of early child development, plus 3 units of special needs. ? Must have clearance through fingerprinting, criminal records and child abuse index background investigation. ? Proven ability to maintain good working relationships with a wide variety of people and groups, including staff and parents. ? Ability to follow policies regarding YMCA child care program. ? Must have excellent communications skills and writing skills. ? Must have visual and auditory abilities to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act immediately in emergency situations.
