Part-Time Lower School Teaching Assistant for Movement

Berkeley Carroll is a Pre-K through grade 12 college preparatory school of almost 1000 students located in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn in New York City. The Berkeley Carroll Lower School seeks a part-time Teaching Assistant (TA) for Movement for the 2025-26 school year. The TA must have an interest in movement, communicate with students in a developmentally appropriate way, and be comfortable collaborating with faculty to understand the unique needs of each grade level and class.

Responsibilities:

• Supporting Dance and Physical Education instruction by providing supervision under the direction of the teacher that ensures the safety and engagement of all children in these physically active classes.
• Assist with arrival, dismissal, and lunch coverage
• Support with child care on Professional Development and Parent Conference days
• Additional duties and responsibilities as needed

Requirements:

• Applicants should have, or be in the process of attaining, a college degree
• Experience in a school or camp setting working with school-aged children in a capacity that includes physical movement
• Passion for movement
• Ability to communicate with students in a developmentally appropriate way and build relationships quickly with students
• Ability to collaborate with faculty to understand the unique needs of each grade level and class
