A teaching position in the Lower School requires a compassionate, flexible, and creative individual with classroom experience. This person must work closely with students, teachers, and administrators to support Brownes mission by promoting the core values in each child's educational and personal experience. The teacher should possess a holistic view of children and understand the young child's development. The ideal candidate will have a passion for integrated learning and strong communication skills. The candidate will also demonstrate an understanding of how differentiated assessment informs instruction and will be familiar with current research into neuroscience and its implications for effective teaching. Classroom Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute thoughtful units of study designed to reach the different learning styles of the students in the classroom.
- Collaborate with your teaching team and specialist teachers to ensure integration with other subjects.
- Assess student learning using various tools and means throughout each trimester and communicate regularly with parents and administrators about student progress.
- Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment.
- Consistently communicate with colleagues, administrators, and parents regarding progress, growth, and goals.
- Adhere to the schools curriculum in the classroom.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree in education.
- Experience teaching in a lower school classroom, preferably in an independent school setting.
