Hourly Rate: $25/hour
Schedule: On-call/substitute basis, with potential assignments during school hours and aftercare (3:006:00 PM)
LEtoile is seeking enthusiastic and dependable substitute Assistant Teachers and Aftercare Teachers who enjoy working with children and collaborating with a dedicated school community. These roles are essential to supporting a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment for our students from preschool through grade 5.
Key Responsibilities Assistant Teacher Substitutes- Supervise and support students in classroom settings.
- Assist lead teachers with instructional and logistical needs.
- Cover teacher breaks including lunch and recess duties.
- Engage students in structured activities during recess or aftercare.
- Step into the teachers role in their absence as needed.
- Report disciplinary concerns to the Head of School or Pedagogical Director.
- Communicate regularly with lead teachers and administrators.
- Attend staff meetings, orientations, and training sessions when requested.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Provide a safe and structured environment for students during aftercare hours.
- Facilitate quiet homework time and assist students (elementary levels).
- Organize games and creative play activities.
- Maintain open communication with administrators and parents.
- Clean and sanitize shared spaces at the end of the day.
- Attend training sessions and monthly staff check-ins when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate:
- Has experience working with children, preferably in a school setting.
- Demonstrates flexibility, organization, and independence.
- Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Is fluent in English; French language skills are a plus.
- Is open to learning and applying positive behavioral management strategies.
- Is reliable and punctual.
- Has basic computer skills (Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets a plus).
- Onsite presence at LEtoile French Immersion School is required.
- Assistant Teachers must hold and maintain:
- Current enrollment in the Central Background Registry (OR Office of Child Care)
- Valid Food Handler card
- CPR/First Aid certification
