Primary Purpose:

Support teachers and students as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

Experience working with children and/or in school preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Be a role model; uphold school vision of nurture, character, discipline, and academic excellence.
  • Assist in the implementation of the IEP goals under the direction of the teacher.
  • Work cooperatively with classroom teachers to assist SPED students with assignments in general education classes.
  • Assist SPED students with assignments or tests in Content Mastery setting.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and electronic records as required by federal, state, and district policy.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information clearly and accurately.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Respect confidentiality guidelines.
  • Attend all staff meetings and complete all recommended training.
  • Follow directions given by head teacher or immediate supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Working Conditions/Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental

Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
