Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and innovative Middle School Computer Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will foster a passion for technology, problem-solving, and creativity in students, while ensuring alignment with the Indiana Academic Standards for Computer Science. This position requires the ability to engage middle school learners in coding, computational thinking, digital citizenship, and technology integration that prepares them for success in future academic and career pathways.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engaging lessons in computer science, including topics such as coding, programming, digital literacy, information technology, and responsible technology use.
• Align instruction with the Indiana Department of Education Computer Science Standards and district curriculum.
• Create a classroom environment that encourages curiosity, innovation, collaboration, and critical thinking.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies and technology tools to meet diverse learning needs.
• Teach students foundational computer science skills such as algorithms, data representation, problem-solving, and the use of software applications.
• Foster digital citizenship by teaching students how to use technology safely, ethically, and effectively.
• Assess student learning through multiple measures (formative, summative, projects, performance tasks) and provide timely feedback.
• Differentiate instruction for students with varying abilities, interests, and learning styles.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate computer science concepts across other subject areas where applicable.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, coding platforms, and instructional practices.
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Education, Business Education, Information Technology, or a related field required.
• Valid Indiana Teaching License with appropriate endorsement (or ability to obtain) preferred.
• Knowledge of Indiana Computer Science Standards (Grades 6-8).
• Strong understanding of instructional technology and digital learning tools.
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
• Passion for working with middle school students and building a positive, inclusive classroom community.
