This position will start in August 2026. Any elementary endorsed applicant (K-6) on a standard (or above) license is encouraged to apply. This position is funded with Title dollars. TITLE: TCHR General Education Teacher - 2nd Grade POSITION TYPE: TCHR HIRING SPECIFICATIONS: Required: Valid Iowa teaching license - MUST BE ON STANDARD OR MASTER EDUCATOR LICENSE . This position is not eligible for teachers on an initial license. Knowledge of subject, curriculum, effective teaching methods. Demonstrated effectiveness in oral and written communications. Desired: Previous classroom teaching experience. Experience in an urban school district. BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible for planning and delivering a high-quality educational program to meet children's academic and social-emotional needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Deliver daily lessons, aligned to state and district standards that meet students' individual needs and ensure growth. Create a culturally inclusive classroom that meets the academic and social emotional needs of students. Participate in building and district professional learning communities to plan for instruction, analyze data, and create assessments. Monitor student learning on a daily basis. Use multiple data points to guide and individualize instruction. Communicate with families on a regular basis. Participate in professional development. Demonstrate consistent progress on meeting the eight Iowa Teaching Standards ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (for every DMPS position): Attend work on a prompt and regular basis. Maintain confidentiality. Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees. Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
