What You'll Do:
As an Upper School English teacher you'll play a pivotal role in creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences for our Upper School students. Youll work collaboratively with colleagues to build a supportive and challenging classroom environment that encourages students to reach their potential:
Inspire and Educate: Cultivate a love of literature, critical thinking, and communication skills among students
Foster Growth: Encourage curiosity, creativity, and a growth mindset in your classroom
Set Clear Goals: Help students articulate and achieve academic goals tailored to their individual strengths and aspirations
Build Community: Create an inclusive, welcoming classroom where every student feels respected and valued
Engage in Professional Excellence: Collaborate with the English Department Chair and Upper School leadership to design a cohesive and innovative curriculum
What Were Looking For:
The ideal candidate is not just a teacher but a mentor and role model who inspires students to think critically and creatively:
- A Masters degree in English, English Education, or a related field
- 3-5 years of teaching experience in grades 6-12
- Strong experience with curriculum development and integrating modern teaching practices
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Learning Management Systems like Blackboard or Canvas
- A passion for professional growth and a commitment to academic excellence
