Chappaqua CSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the anticipated probationary position of Art Teacher at Robert E. Bell Middle School beginning September 2, 2026.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Develops and administers the school art curriculum consistent with the school district's goals and vision and rooted in the NYS Standards for the Arts.
- Demonstrates an interest and success in working with middle-level learners.
- Ability to meaningfully integrate technology into the art education experience.
- Familiar with constructing and facilitating project- and inquiry-based learning experiences for students.
- Familiar with i-Movie and Photoshop.
- Teaches knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, graphic design, digital media, art history, and three-dimensional art to middle school learners. Has a strong understanding of fine and design arts.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student skills and learning in artistic techniques and expression, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students' needs.
- Demonstrates techniques in 2D and 3D art using standard and teacher-prepared instructional aids.
- Fosters a welcoming classroom environment that nurtures emotional well-being and a sense of belonging.
- Uses formative assessments to gauge student understanding.
- Has experience with evidence-based social-emotional learning strategies to promote emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of the RULER approach is preferred.
- Uses knowledge of students and student performance when planning lessons.
- Infuses culturally relevant practices to ensure that lessons reflect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of all students.
- Integrates diverse perspectives and voices into instructional materials and resources to broaden students' understanding of the world.
- Maintains high expectations for all students.
- Engages in regular, collaborative professional development with the understanding that team efficacy is greater than individual efforts alone.
Certifications/Experience:
- New York State Certification as an Art Teacher
