A second grade paraprofessional supports the classroom teacher by helping students learn and stay on track throughout the school day. They work with individuals or small groups on reading, writing, math, and classroom routines; assist with behavior and social-emotional skills; prepare materials; supervise students during transitions; and help create a safe, positive learning environment. They also provide morning breakfast duty and supervise students during recess and lunch duty, ensuring safety, appropriate behavior, and smooth transitions. They may provide accommodations for students with special needs and communicate observations to the teacher.
