Middle School Summer Camp Instructional Assistants
Session 1- 6/15/26-7/9/26 Session 2-7/13/26-8/6/26
$15.82 - $18.58 per hour
Niles Community Schools
All Instructional Assistants must meet one of the following standards to be considered highly qualified in the State of Michigan:
Completed two years of college (60 hours) OR Obtained an Associate's Degree or higher OR Meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate, through passage of an approved formal state academic assessment in the following areas:
Knowledge of, and the ability to assist in, instructing reading, writing, and mathematics; or
Knowledge of and the ability to assist in, instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
The State Board of Education approved the following formal assessments by which a paraprofessional may choose to demonstrate this knowledge:
Basic Skills Examination:
A passing score on the Basic Skills Test MTTC
A passing score of at least 480 on the evidence-based reading and writing section of the SAT and 530 on the mathematics section in lieu of the Basic Skills Test or Professional Readiness Exam
ETS Parapro Assessment: A passing score of 460 is required.
This is an eight week program that will run Monday - Friday from June 15 to August 6. We will host 2 four week sessions and students can attend one or both sessions. Middle School Summer Camp will be held in the mornings from 8:00-12:00 (time subject to change). This program will service up to 120 students (60 in each session) in grades 6-8 with 20 slots at each grade level. Students will participate in the following in-person activities: Delta, STEM, and Math Games. We are looking for 3 Instructional Assistants or Classroom Management Assistants. Staff can choose to work four or eight weeks.
