CLASS TITLE: Preschool Early Childhood Teacher

REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Program Director

SUPERVISES:

NUMBER OF DAYS: 185

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education

IECE certification

Kentucky Teaching Certification

Salary: As established by the salary schedule determined by the Board of Education as a Director of District Wide Programs.

Representative Duties:

Provide high quality comprehensive child development services to prepare children for school.

Participate in and support all School Readiness and Family Engagement activities and trainings as requested.

Implement the program's research-based selected curricula.

Conduct intentional planning based on child outcomes data for intentional teaching.

Implement a high quality classroom as measured by CLASS and ECERS/ITERS.

Provide all children with a safe, nurturing, engaging, enjoyable, and secure learning environment.

Treat each child as an individual in an inclusive community that values, respects, and responds to diversity.

Build positive relationships with all children.

Engage each child in meaningful social conversations daily.

Support play as a way for children to organize their experiences and understand concepts.

Provide a learning environment that offers children experiences, which vary in complexity, as well as support individual interest and abilities.

Provide varied experiences that promote the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child.

Incorporate developmentally appropriate strategies to help children learn concepts and skills related to science, social studies, language, literacy, numeracy, art, music, and movement.

Encourage self-control by setting clear, consistent limits, and having realistic expectations.

Adhere to program's corporal punishment guidelines, and code of conduct and confidentiality policies.

Utilize a variety of strategies to promote and support children's learning and developmental progress based on focused observations and ongoing assessment of each child as documented in Assessment Notebooks and IEP or IFSP documentation.

Individualize the curricula and adapt the environment to promote and support children's learning through the development of child goals.

Provide a daily schedule and intentionally plan for routines and transitions.

Maintain daily lesson plans to implement the curricula.

Maintain documentation of children's daily attendance.

Provide parents opportunities to discuss their concerns and their child's progress through home visits and parent-teacher conferences.

Participate in staff meetings, trainings focus groups, and surveys.

Participate in on-going professional development, and college courses, as required, related to early child development.

Assist Family Liaisons to identify and meet children and families' needs.

Assist other program staff with the implementation of all program services relevant to children and families.

Other duties as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board and reflected in district salary schedules and individual employee contract.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.

Position Type:Full-Time

Salary:$43,270 to $70,489 Per Year
