Washington Elementary Date of Availability: June 29th, 2026 Position: ESY (Extended School Year) Summer Program Lead Teacher Grades 1-5 (Temporary) Reports to: Building Principal/District Coordinator Program Dates & Schedule : Professional Learning (Required): June 29, 2026 (5 A hours): Student Program Dates (8 Days): July 7, 8 July 14, 15 July 21, 22 July 28, 29 Aug 4, 5 (potential) Schedule: Tuesday/Wednesday program schedule 8:15 - 2:10 staff, 8:30 - 2:00 students (5.75 hours per day with an additional 1 hour of planning/week) 6 additional hours for pre- and post- planning and data collection. Salary: $30.18/hour for professional learning and training $42.65/hour during program hours Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Program Implementation & Student Engagement Deliver targeted, standards-aligned instruction that supports IEP goals and addresses identified skill gaps. Break learning into manageable, bite-sized steps to reduce cognitive load and increase student success. Use evidence-based strategies, scaffolds, accommodations, and language-rich supports to ensure access for all learners. Incorporate multisensory, hands-on, and culturally responsive activities to meet diverse learning needs. Differentiate tasks, materials, and pacing based on student readiness, assessment data, and IEP requirements. Student Support & Leadership Development Teach and reinforce study skills, goal-setting strategies, and habits that promote academic success. Model and uphold school expectations, supporting students in positive decision-making and self-management. Foster leadership, responsibility, collaboration, and interpersonal skills through daily routines and interactions. Community Engagement & Family Partnerships Support family communication and engagement efforts aligned to summer program goals. Maintain positive, proactive communication with families as appropriate to student needs and program expectations. Data, Safety, & Compliance Collect, maintain, and report required program data, including attendance, behavior, and participation. Supervise students to ensure safety and adherence to program routines during all instructional and non-instructional components. Demonstrate consistent attendance, punctuality, professionalism, and preparedness. Professional Learning & Program Collaboration Participate in required professional training, planning sessions, and ongoing coaching. Collaborate with site coordinators, teachers, and support staff to ensure program consistency and high-quality implementation. Carry out additional duties as assigned by the District Coordinator or Principal. Minimum Qualifications Delaware teaching certification (Bachelor's degree or higher) and special education certification. Experience tutoring or working with appropriate grade level. Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and foster inclusive, engaging learning environments.
