Position Summary
The Bluebonnet Secondary Mathematics Teacher Leader provides intensive, job-embedded coaching and feedback support to teachers to ensure strong implementation of the Bluebonnet Mathematics curriculum across middle and high school mathematics courses.
This position will support school leaders in aligning systems and expectations for campus-level Bluebonnet Mathematics implementation to grant and district expectations. The instructional coach will support school leaders in monitoring progress, celebrating and spotlighting successes, responding to trends in data and fidelity of implementation across the campus. A shared commitment to growth, clarity and alignment, along with supporting a culture of trust and continuous improvement ensures this role supports the achievement of high academic outcomes for ALL student populations.
Teacher Leaders will instruct Tier 2/3 students and/or HB1416 students for part of the school day. This assignment will allow Teacher Leaders to remain TIA eligible.
This position focuses on strengthening Tier I core math instruction, deepening conceptual knowledge and understanding, accelerating student achievement, and building teacher capacity in standards-aligned, conceptually rigorous mathematics instruction. The teacher leader works collaboratively with teachers and campus leadership to ensure fidelity of implementation, data-driven instructional decisions, and measurable growth in student mathematical understanding.

Key Responsibilities
Bluebonnet Math Implementation (6th-HS)
- Support high-fidelity implementation of Bluebonnet Math curriculum.
- Model effective math instruction emphasizing:
o Conceptual understanding
o Procedural fluency
o Mathematical reasoning
o Problem-solving strategies
o Academic discourse for justification of reasoning
o Multiple representations
o Instructional routines
- Guide and assist teachers in the lesson internalization process, develop aligned instructional routines, embed and implement strong instructional support in daily lessons and plan for anticipating student misconceptions.
- Ensure alignment to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
- Support the understanding and effective implementation of the Mathematics RBIS in daily lessons.
- Align assessment strategies: 1) integrate, plan, schedule and support formative and summative assessments; 2) plan and support clear expectations for curriculum-embedded assessments to deepen and improve instruction and student outcomes.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement among campus teachers, reinforcing high expectations and collaborative, reflective practice across grade levels/subject areas.
- Support technical and adaptive conditions for success (e.g. teacher knowledge and skill, planning and instructional time, schoolwide routines, positive teacher mindsets, collaborative culture, shared vision, and stakeholder buy-in).
- Meet with district/campus instructional coaches to coordinate, collaborate, and support all district/campus initiatives to support strong implementation, fidelity, and alignment across the district.
Instructional Coaching & Capacity Building
- Guide teachers to share their understanding of the progression of the lesson to ensure alignment, appropriate pacing, and transitions between key components within the lesson.
- Conduct coaching cycles (internalization, lesson rehearsals, planning, observation and feedback, reflection and follow-up).
- Support campus leaders in creating prioritized and consistent internalization/PLC and observation/feedback schedules.
- Cultivate strong relationships within and across organizations, shared understanding and investment among key campus stakeholders, work with LIFT staff to support LIFT action plan detailing supports aligned to system goals and campus context.
- Co-plan lessons to ensure rigorous, on-grade-level instruction.
- Plan and lead vertical and horizontal, grade-level Math PLCs focused on strengthening internalization, reviewing/clarifying observation tools, creating a culture of continued growth, reviewing data, increasing use of embedded routines and supports within curriculum, etc.
- Ensure a weekly schedule of support for planning and leading PLCs/internalizations and office hours to support teachers (one-to-one or whole group).
- Support new teacher onboarding.
Student Achievement & Data Analysis
- Monitor and ensure progress toward system and program goals.
- Clearly communicate synthesis of data analyses regularly to district and campus leaders and LIFT staff.
- Adjust campus strategies as needed in response to trends and challenges surfaced in progress monitoring data and conversations.
- Provide timely, collaborative problem-solving as needed in response to challenges surfaced by campus leaders, teachers, and/or LIFT staff.
- Lead, facilitate, and support staff who provide learning acceleration, intervention, and tutorial services in computer assisted labs by providing focused schedules for the staff and students, targeted student groupings, and focused, curriculum aligned instructional plans.
- Assist with universal screening, progress monitoring, and benchmark assessment.
- Analyze data to inform instruction (module/topic assessments, benchmarks, formative/summative assessments, etc.).
- Support and assist with vertical and horizontal alignment across all classrooms.
- Support intervention planning for Tier II and Tier III students.
- Collaborate with MTSS teams to address student mathematics gaps.
- Support district campus leaders with creating a PLC/Internalization and data room to support on-going professional learning and progress monitoring.
Professional Development
- Deliver professional learning aligned to Bluebonnet Mathematics implementation and evidence-based practices (e.g. Math RBIS).
- Build capacity and ownership through training and job-embedded support.
- Provide training in evidence-based mathematics practices (e.g. RBIS, etc.).
- Support vertical and horizontal alignment across middle school and high school mathematics instruction.
- Promote consistent instructional language and aligned routines across grade levels.
Grant Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain required documentation of coaching and feedback cycles, professional development, PLCs, Internalizations, observation, walkthroughs, etc.
- Monitor implementation fidelity through campus observation and feedback walks, product observations, learning walks as required by the grant.
- Participate in required district and state grant trainings and meetings.
- Schedule and support monitoring visits and reporting requirements associated with the grant.
Other Duties as Assigned
- Student tutorials during the school day, before and/or after school student tutorials (extra-duty pay applies), etc.

Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree required
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate required (6th HS)
- Demonstrated knowledge of mathematics competencies
Experience
- Minimum 35 years successful mathematics classroom teaching experience
- Proven success in improving mathematics outcomes
- Experience implementing high-quality instructional materials HQIM Bluebonnet Curriculum preferred
