We are currently hiring a Special Education Teacher for an elementary Life Skills classroom near Gurnee, IL. This full-time special education teaching position is ideal for a certified educator with experience in self-contained classrooms, individualized instruction, and supporting students with significant academic, developmental, and behavioral needs.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction in an elementary Life Skills / self-contained classroom setting
• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning needs of students with disabilities
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and school staff
• Maintain a structured, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
• Track student progress and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with IDEA standards

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Special Education endorsement (required)
• Experience in a self-contained, Life Skills, or cross-categorical special education classroom preferred
• Strong classroom management, communication, and instructional planning skills
• Commitment to supporting students with moderate to significant disabilities
