Position: Special Education Teacher
School Year: 2026-2027
Reports to: Dean of Instruction and Building Leadership Team
Purpose Statement : To inspire students to love learning by making connections, building relationships, and supporting their individual learning needs.
Essential Duties and Performance Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with our Special Education team to support students with an IEP
- Support K-8 students with both pull-out and push-in services
- Support national and state standards that promote the development of children in an inclusive setting
- Build relationships with students and staff to ensure an inclusive and supportive learning environment and work culture
- Willing to attain a Crisis Prevention Intervention certificate
- Write and develop meaningful IEP plans
- Schedule and hold parent/teacher meetings for initial, annual, and triennial plans
- Meet with families during conferences
- Ensure that students are receiving the appropriate accommodations in their plans
- Support classroom teachers with student accommodations
- Use your knowledge of student performance and personality to provide rigorous and engaging learning experiences for all students

Work Requirements and Characteristics:
Education: Minimum Bachelor's Degree
License/Certification: Colorado Teacher License with a Special Education endorsement
Terms of Employment : Twelve-month position. Competitive salary ranging from $58,737 -$86,753 (this is from the 25-26 salary schedule - new schedule should be approved in the spring)
Evaluation : Job performance is evaluated annually by the Building Leadership Team
FLSA Status: Exempt
Working Environment/Physical Activities: Work is generally performed in a classroom environment. Travel with students may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to grasp or maneuver objects; and talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, balance or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near and far vision, depth perception, color, and the ability to adjust focus.
