Middle School Art
Primary Purpose:
New Diana Middle School is seeking a creative, enthusiastic, and student-centered Middle School Art Teacher to inspire students in grades 6-8 through engaging visual arts instruction. The ideal candidate will foster creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression while building a positive classroom culture.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging art lessons aligned with state and district standards
- Teach a variety of media and techniques including drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, and digital art
- Encourage creativity, self-expression, and appreciation of art history and diverse cultures
- Maintain an organized, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
- Assess student progress and provide timely feedback
- Prepare student artwork for displays, exhibitions, and school events
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success
- Manage classroom supplies, materials, and equipment
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field
- Valid teaching certification/licensure in Texas
- Experience teaching middle school or secondary students preferred
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Passion for arts education and student engagement
- Knowledge of diverse artistic techniques and instructional strategies
Experience:
At least one year student teaching or approved internship
Communication
- Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
