Job Description
Job Title: Paraprofessional
Reports To: Administrator
Supervises: Not applicable
Type of Position: Non-exempt, 180 day contract
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Candidates must also either pass the local Paraprofessional Exam or hold an associate degree or higher.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists in executing the instructional program based on the Virginia Standards of Learning and individual education plans as directed by the Administrators and Special Education Teachers.
Monitors the safety and well-being of students as directed by the Administrators and Special Education Teachers.
Prepares instructional materials as is appropriate for the program and individual students as directed by the Administrators and Special Education Teachers.
Works with individual students, small groups, and large groups as appropriate for the program and as directed by the Administrators or Special Education Teachers.
Assists in documenting progress of each student to ensure growth as instructed by the Administrators or Special Education Teachers.
Prepares data when directed to do so, this may include attendance, grading, behavior, literacy, etc.
Assists with safety drills including, but not limited to fire drills, tornado drills, bus evacuation drills, shelter in place or lockdown drills.
Assists with duty assignments as directed which may include hall duty, bus duty, lunch duty.
Assists with student mobility, which may involve lifting or guiding students, as well as managing classroom materials and equipment.
Attends meetings and professional development as directed by the school administrators.
Models and encourages professional behavior and positive self-concept.
Maintains strict confidentiality regarding student records and student information.
Follows all rules, regulations and policies of the school, school division and state and federal laws including rules, regulations, policies and laws regarding Special Education.
Other duties as assigned by Administrators and Special Education Teachers.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with students/children. Associates or bachelor's degree.

Salary:$19.56 to $22.97 Per Hour
