Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into an impactful role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher for a K-2 cross-categorical classroom. This contract position covers a maternity leave, beginning September 8, 2026, and running through Christmas Break. The classroom is carefully capped at 15 students, with a strong team of three paraprofessionals available to assist you each day. Your weekdays will be structured, with classes scheduled from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM, and a commitment to report ten minutes before start and leave ten minutes after dismissal. On half days, student dismissal is at 11:30 AM. Enjoy dedicated planning time with a daily 50-minute prep period and a 40-minute duty-free lunch, allowing you to focus on both teaching and self-care. Desired Skills & Qualifications:
Valid Michigan Special Education Certification (required)
Prior experience teaching elementary special education students (strongly preferred)
Experience in cross-categorical classroom settings
Familiarity with AAC communication supports and iPad devices, including the TD Snap platform, is highly valued Key Responsibilities:

Manage and monitor progress for an elementary-level special education caseload
