Qualifications and Job Description
  • Reports to the Principal
  • Read the elementary school Responsive Advisory Meeting book and become familiar with middleschool Responsive Classroom practices.
  • Implement Responsive Classroom Advisory with fidelity
  • Uses the Elementary School Responsive Classroom approach and creates a classroomenvironment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of the students
  • Teach students to care and build relationships through positive behavior and language towardstudents, staff, and the community by using Elementary School Responsive Classroom practices and adaily Advisory meetings
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Read, ask questions, and understand all aspects of the ACS curriculum, so that you canimplement it effectively
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated
  • Plans a program of study that aligns with the curriculum set forth by the administrative team
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests andabilities of the students
  • Consistently reviews and analyzes assessment data to drive instructional decisions
  • Develops and implements Student Success Plans
  • Will use ECATS - MTSS System to:
    • Write Success Plan Goals
    • Collect and analyze data
    • Maintain and update student intervention logs
  • Provide small group differentiated instruction based on assessment data in reading and mathand shows written evidence of preparation that meet all of the ACS lesson plan requirements formiddle school teachers
  • Implement subject-matter work stations
  • Prepares lessons for the classes assigned with their team and shows written evidence ofpreparation that meet all of the ACS lesson plan requirements
  • Plan and implement with the grade level team at least 3 standards based projects aligned withthe NC Essential Standards in Science per year
  • Meet with grade level team to collaboratively plan weekly lessons
  • Meet 1 time per week with the Admin. Team to discuss curriculum and/or data
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmonywith the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects andcommunicates these objectives to students
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent withphysical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the studentsinvolved
  • Maximize the integration of technology into core learning processes - will be able to use allof the technology (document camera; Smart TV; iPads; Chromebooks; etc.) in classroominstruction
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the schools philosophy of education andinstructional goals and objectives
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reportsand report cards as required
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life andconduct, and develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures andmaintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
  • Seeks assistance from Support Personnel, the EC Teachers and Facilitator as required
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materialsand facilities
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and administrative regulation
  • Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposesoutside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteers
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Attends meetings, school events, and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Complies with the Daily Check-in and out System
  • Reads and Understands the entire Employee Handbook

    Job Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor of Arts/Science in Education or field of instruction
  • NC Certification/Teaching License or the ability to receive a NC Teaching License
