Primary Purpose

Provide high-quality instruction to elementary students that promotes academic growth, social-emotional development, and a positive learning environment. The Elementary Teacher supports the mission of USD 344 by delivering standards-based instruction aligned with Kansas College and Career Ready Standards (KCCRS) and fostering a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom.

Qualifications Education/Certification/Licensure
  1. Bachelors degree in Elementary Education or related field required.
  2. Valid Kansas teaching license with appropriate elementary endorsement (PK6).
Special Knowledge/Skills
  1. Knowledge of Kansas College and Career Ready Standards (KCCRS).
  2. Understanding of child development and effective instructional practices for elementary learners.
  3. Ability to design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons.
  4. Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
  5. Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
  6. Skill in integrating technology into instruction.
  7. Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Experience
  1. Successful student teaching experience required.
  2. Previous elementary teaching experience preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum
  1. Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with Kansas standards and district curriculum.
  2. Teach core content areas including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
  3. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  4. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to promote student engagement and achievement.
  5. Integrate social-emotional learning and character development into daily instruction.
Assessment and Student Progress
  1. Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments.
  2. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.
  3. Maintain accurate records of student performance.
  4. Communicate student progress effectively with students, parents, and guardians.
Classroom Environment and Management
  1. Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
  2. Promote respectful behavior and high expectations for student learning.
  3. Implement effective classroom management strategies.
Professional Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance student learning.
  2. Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) and school improvement efforts.
  3. Engage in ongoing professional development.
  4. Maintain appropriate licensure and comply with district, state, and federal requirements.
Student Engagement and School Involvement
  1. Support school-wide initiatives and programs.
  2. Encourage student participation and engagement in learning.
  3. Communicate effectively with families and stakeholders.
Compliance and Safety
  1. Follow all USD 344 policies, procedures, and expectations.
  2. Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA.
  3. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Working Conditions Mental Demands / Physical Requirements / Environmental Conditions
  1. Ability to maintain emotional control in a classroom environment.
  2. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and movement around the classroom.
  3. Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
  4. Work in classroom settings with moderate noise levels.
