Primary PurposeProvide high-quality instruction to elementary students that promotes academic growth, social-emotional development, and a positive learning environment. The Elementary Teacher supports the mission of USD 344 by delivering standards-based instruction aligned with Kansas College and Career Ready Standards (KCCRS) and fostering a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom.
Qualifications Education/Certification/Licensure- Bachelors degree in Elementary Education or related field required.
- Valid Kansas teaching license with appropriate elementary endorsement (PK6).
- Knowledge of Kansas College and Career Ready Standards (KCCRS).
- Understanding of child development and effective instructional practices for elementary learners.
- Ability to design and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons.
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
- Skill in integrating technology into instruction.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Successful student teaching experience required.
- Previous elementary teaching experience preferred.
- Plan and deliver engaging instruction aligned with Kansas standards and district curriculum.
- Teach core content areas including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to promote student engagement and achievement.
- Integrate social-emotional learning and character development into daily instruction.
- Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance.
- Communicate student progress effectively with students, parents, and guardians.
- Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Promote respectful behavior and high expectations for student learning.
- Implement effective classroom management strategies.
- Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance student learning.
- Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) and school improvement efforts.
- Engage in ongoing professional development.
- Maintain appropriate licensure and comply with district, state, and federal requirements.
- Support school-wide initiatives and programs.
- Encourage student participation and engagement in learning.
- Communicate effectively with families and stakeholders.
- Follow all USD 344 policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ability to maintain emotional control in a classroom environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and movement around the classroom.
- Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
- Work in classroom settings with moderate noise levels.
