Special Education Teacher - Alabaster, Alabama

Exciting opportunities are available for Special Education professionals (Ex Ed Teachers for Exceptional Education) with a passion for supporting students in a school setting. These contract positions serve students from elementary through high school, with a primary focus on elementary self-contained classrooms. The assignments are full-time and onsite, spanning the academic year from August 6, 2026, to May 27, 2027. Onsite interviews will be conducted at a central Birmingham, AL location after initial prescreening.

Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid Alabama SPED (Special Education) Licensure required (k-6 for Elementary, 6-12 for Secondary)
• Experience working in self-contained settings highly preferred
• Flexibility to work with caseloads primarily focused on elementary level; high school positions also available
• Comfortable with small class sizes (typically 4-6 students, up to 10) and varying needs/disabilities
• Previous experience with the district is a plus

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide specialized instruction and support to students with exceptional needs in a self-contained classroom
• Develop and implement IEPs tailored to individual student goals
• Collaborate with general education staff, related service providers, and families
• Track progress, document student data, and participate in staff meetings
• Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment

Additional Information:

• Contract positions: 37.5 hours per week
