We are currently seeking a Kindergarten Inclusive Classroom / Special Education Teacher who shares this vision and is excited to contribute to a vibrant, child-centered, and collaborative school community.Position OverviewGrade 14 Special Education Teacher at Hilltown is responsible for providing specialized instruction, individualized support, and case management services to students with disabilities across the elementary grades. This educator works closely with classroom teachers, related service providers, families, and school staff to ensure that all students can access the curriculum, participate fully in the school community, and make meaningful progress toward their educational goals.This role reflects Hilltowns commitment to inclusive education and responsive support for diverse learners. The teacher develops and implements individualized programming in accordance with students IEPs, provides targeted intervention and specialized instruction, monitors student progress, and collaborates with educators to support accommodations, modifications, and differentiated learning opportunities within the general education setting.Responsibilities include direct instruction in individual and small-group settings, assessment participation, progress monitoring, consultation with staff and families, IEP development and implementation, and coordination of services to support student success academically, socially, emotionally, behaviorally, and functionally.We are seeking an educator who brings warmth, flexibility, creativity, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of child development and elementary learning. Successful candidates value inclusion, collaboration, relationship-building, and hands-on learning, and are committed to creating a school experience where all students feel safe, connected, supported, challenged, and empowered to grow.Minimum QualificationsBachelors degreeMassachusetts licensure in Moderate Disabilities PreK8 or Moderate Disabilities PreK2Passing scores on relevant MTELs (or ability to meet this requirement early in tenure)Preferred Qualifications2+ years of teaching experience in early childhood or elementary settingsExperience working within inclusive or co-taught classroomsExperience supporting students with a range of developmental, communication, sensory, behavioral, and learning needsFamiliarity with IDEA, IEP development, and progress monitoringMasters degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or related fieldPrimary ResponsibilitiesProvide specialized instruction and educational services to students in Grades 14 in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and applicable special education regulationsDeliver evidence-based, differentiated instruction in literacy, mathematics, social-emotional learning, and other academic areas to support diverse learning needsCollaborate with general education teachers to plan, adapt, and implement curriculum aligned with high-quality instructional materials and the Massachusetts Curriculum FrameworksSupport the implementation of accommodations, modifications, and individualized supports to ensure student access to grade-level curriculum and learning opportunitiesConduct ongoing assessment and progress monitoring to evaluate student growth and inform instructional planningMaintain accurate documentation related to IEP goals, service delivery, progress reports, and student performanceServe as case manager for assigned students, coordinating IEP meetings, evaluations, progress reviews, and communication with team members and familiesCollaborate with related service providers, specialists, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement comprehensive educational programs for studentsFoster a respectful, inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement, independence, and successSupport students development of self-advocacy, executive functioning, self-regulation, communication, and positive peer relationshipsBuild strong partnerships with families through regular communication, collaboration, and participation in the special education processUtilize data-driven instructional practices and evidence-based interventions to address academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and functional needsCollaborate in supervising and supporting paraprofessionals, instructional assistants, and other staff members as assignedParticipate in multidisciplinary team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives to support student achievement and inclusionAdditional ExpectationsParticipate fully in the schools collaborative professional development programAttend and engage in faculty meetings, integrated curriculum planning meetings, IEP meetings, and student support team meetingsComplete IEP progress reports for each student three times per yearAttend an evening classroom orientation session each fallParticipate in assigned lunch/recess supervisionEngage in weekly All School gatherings that celebrate community and student voiceSupport Mini Courses for mixed grade groups of students as scheduledMaintain appropriate licensure, compliance, and special education documentation requirementsGeneral ExpectationsMeet routine responsibilities consistentlyManage time effectively to accomplish multiple tasks and meet deadlinesMaintain strong attendance and punctualityWork collaboratively and flexibly within a co-teaching modelMaintain cooperative relationships with students, families, and colleaguesCommunicate effectively both orally and in writingSupport the schools goals, philosophies, and overall mission
