Athenian Academy of Technology and the Arts
Athenian Academy of Technology and the Arts is a tuition free public charter school, which opened its doors in August of 2006. Athenian Academy serves grades K – 8, with an emphasis on cooperative learning, the arts, and technology. Our school is a place for children to build a love for learning. Our education program focuses on the following:
• Performing Arts
• Hands-On Science
• Character Education
• Cooperative Learning
• Reteach & Enrich Program
• Rigorous Educational Program
Athenian Academy utilizes Kagan Cooperative Learning Structures, which encourage every student to be actively engaged in the learning process. Through the use of Kagan structures, students are taught how to learn cooperatively with their peers, while simultaneously required to have individual accountability for their own learning. All teachers at Athenian Academy are required to receive extensive and on-going Kagan Cooperative Learning training throughout their years of teaching at our school.
Our mission is to provide the highest degree of instructional excellence while recognizing the unique needs of each student. Our school will provide the opportunity for parents and school staff to engage students in the process of becoming responsible, productive citizens and lifelong learners through a rigorous instructional program, including foreign languages (Greek and Spanish), technology, athletics and the arts.
Our vision is to engage students in a learning environment that fosters and enhances higher-order thinking skills across all curriculum areas, consistent with the Florida Standards and Next Generation Sunshine State Standards while offering students enrichment programs and providing a family-oriented environment where students and parents benefit from a personal relationship with teachers and staff.
