The Helix School (THS) is seeking an experienced, creative and dynamic Special Education Teacher for its Elementary Classroom. THS is located in Mill Valley, CA, serving children with autism ages 7-18. We offer our students a safe environment so that they can build upon their strengths while supporting them as they grow in their own awareness and knowledge, develop skills, and deepen their social skills. Our integrated curriculum is tailored to our student’s developmental level, sensory processing differences, and emotional-regulatory needs. At THS, we emphasize our student’s capabilities and provide motivation-based, kinesthetic and sensory-based functional, social-emotional and academic learning.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Create and implement goal-driven instructional plans and assessments Collaborate with SLP, OT, Behaviorist, MFT, and Psychologists to provide an integrated plan for developing the capacities of their students
Provide differentiated support to ensure all students reach their goals Adapt lessons to meet the needs of each student
Plan, organize and implement activities specific to students’ abilities to analyze and use data to inform and adjust instruction
Implement IEPs, assess students’ performance, and track progress Maintain student performance data in school tracking systems Supervise and mentor teacher's aide
The ideal candidate must have the following professional and personal attributes and commitments:
Certified as a Special Education Teacher in California
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Meticulous about classroom organization
Passion for teaching and learning
Very strong team player with a commitment to teamwork and building partnerships with colleagues and families.
Experienced in analyzing and using data to drive lesson planning
Open to feedback & commitment to developing continually as a professional educator
Accountability for student achievement outcomes
A sense of humor and a positive attitude.
Willingness to be flexible and adaptable.
Positive performance in preparedness, attendance, and punctuality.
