Special Education Teacher

Brookfield Public Schools is looking for an excellent Special Education Teacher to join our team at Candlewood Lake Elementary School starting the 2026-2027 School Year

Location: Candlewood Lake Elementary School
Position Type: Special Education Teacher
Important Dates:

• August 20 & 21: New Hire Orientation
• August 24: First Day for Current Teaching Staff
• August 27: First Day for Students

Responsibilities(List is not all inclusive):

• Full-Time Position - includes teaching students in a highly collaborative and technology rich environment
• Designs and implements special education services for students with social-emotional needs.
• Case manages students by writing and monitoring IEPs.
• Implements and monitors behavior intervention plans.
• Collaborates with team members, including School Social Worker, School Psychologist, and Paraprofessionals.

Qualified candidates must have:

• a current and valid CT Certification (Endorsement 265, 165, 065, Comprehensive Special Education)
• experience working with elementary level children
• a desire to work with a dynamic, collaborative team;
• a willingness to grow professionally
